PSMC media release re Covid-19 precautions

Port St Mary Commissioners have taken a number of steps in order to protect residents and limit the spread of Covid-19. The Town Hall & West Room are closed with immediate effect and until further notice. The office remains open, but we would ask that you only visit the town hall office if essential. You can contact us by calling 832101 or e-mailing commissioners@portstmary.gov.im. There will be a delay of 3 days in opening any post. We would like to avoid cash payments and will happily provide information about other ways to pay invoices or rent.

Our staff have been issued with equipment and information to limit the risk of infection. We have reviewed all of our activities and are prioritising core functions such as refuse collection. There will be a reduction in grass cutting, planting and other seasonal work usually carried out this time of year. The planned exhibition for the 80th anniversary of the Mona’s Queen has been cancelled.

If any resident of Port St Mary is isolating for medical reasons, we have additional advice available on how to deal with household waste safely. Please get in contact with the office and we will provide advice and guidance. Any residents in isolation who require additional support (shopping, medications being collected etc) should contact the office and we will do our best to put you in contact with someone who can help.

We appreciate that this is a worrying time for everyone. We are actively monitoring the advice from Isle of Man Government and prioritising essential services. It is likely that there will be disruption for several weeks, but we hope everyone will work together as a community to limit the impact of this pandemic.

Regards
