Winter Wildlife Walk with Steve Wright – Saturday 30th December – Set off at 10:30am
A guided Winter Wildlife Walk up hills, through glens and along beautiful coastline.
The walk starts outside Port St Mary Commissioners (above Chapel Bay) at 10:30am and will take roughly two and a half hours, covering a distance of 5 miles. The anti-clockwise route starts with a steep prolonged climb up Cronk Skibbylt to clear away the Christmas cobwebs!
We will meander along Glen Chass down into Perwick Bay, following the coast to Kallow Point; a hotspot for porpoises and dolphins. We’ll loop back at sea level, along the boardwalk, an area home to coastal bird species including purple sandpiper, little egret and ringed plover, finishing at the picturesque Chapel Bay.
The paths are muddy and uneven in places, with stone stiles to negotiate. The pace will be
steady with frequent stops to enjoy seeing nature, but attendees will require a moderate fitness for the hill walking.
